Your role will be to collect parcels from our customers as per the route provided within the time window stated, communicating any potentially failed collections, and ensuring that all documentation is completed accurately and completely.

For this Collections Driver role, we want someone who will always provide customers of Whistl with first-class customer service, sharing feedback, comments, or information with your operations team.

Key responsibilities

Collections

  • Assist with offloading collections vans with a high level of attention to detail when scanning and segregating parcels.
  • Provide collections from our customers in the area within the agreed timeframe.
  • Ensure all health and safety procedures are followed and proactively embraced.
  • Highlight any collections that are going to be late and the reason for the delay to the operations team.
  • Have a flexible approach to work in order to fit the fast-paced, changing working environment at Whistl.

Customer Service

  • Provide all customers of Whistl with an outstanding level of service at all times.
  • Pass on any queries or information gained from the customer at the point of the collection immediately upon return to the depot.
  • Provide customers with support and information in the preparation of the mail.
  • Maintain a professional manner whilst on site at collection points and at the depot.

Vans

  • Keep your vehicle clean and presentable at all times.
  • Always ensure that your vehicle is kept topped up with fuel and oil and is fully compliant according to company policy.
  • Perform general vehicle maintenance and report any defects to the transport manager.

We welcome applications for this Collections Driver role from candidates with experience in driving, customer service, offloading, SLAs, or previous experience as a driver.

  • Enhanced annual leave entitlement, starting at 31 days (including public holidays), increasing up to 36 days with long service.
  • Access to our Prestige Benefits and Rewards Portal including discounts on high-street shopping, days out, entertainment, and food & drink, including popular brands such as Apple, Samsung, and Buyagift.
  • Long service rewards: both financial and leave based.
  • Health cash plan: in which you can get money back on health treatments such as prescriptions, eye care, dental, and more.
  • Life Assurance Scheme
  • Career development opportunities: through E-Learning, Management Development Programmes, and Apprenticeships in which you can gain professional qualifications during working time at no cost to yourself.
  • Access to a well-established Employee Assistance Programme provider, who provides support to our people and their families in areas such as their health and wellbeing.

And other excellent benefits you'd expect from a market-leader.

Required Skills
  • Willingness to embrace different and varying responsibilities
  • Friendly and professional manner in dealing with customers
  • Ability to co-operate successfully with fellow staff at all levels
  • Good knowledge of the local area and road networks
  • Ability to drive a 3.5t Sprinter type vehicle
  • Able to load and unload items of up to 30kg
  • Must have no more than 3 points on driving licence

Previous experience of courier work would be an advantage but not essential to this Collections Driver role.
