Job summary

London Museum is seeking an inspiring leader to head conservation and collection care. You will guide a multidisciplinary team through complex projects and drive positive change as we prepare for a new museum site at West Smithfield.

You will shape strategic collection care across our estate, manage hazardous materials, and build strong cross‑departmental relationships to deliver world‑class care and moving the collection from London Wall.

Qualifications

• Experience leading conservation or collection care teams.
• Proven ability to manage large, complex collection projects including hazardous materials.
• Strong negotiating and relationship-building skills.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a dynamic, multidisciplinary team at a pivotal moment at London Museum as we bring our ambitious plans for a new museum site at West Smithfield to life. You will support our collection move from London Wall, lead collection care delivery of our new galleries at West Smithfield and take the strategic lead in the care of the collection across our estate.

You will have excellent working knowledge of a range of conservation and collection care disciplines, demonstrable experience of managing a busy conservation or collection care team and proven experience of managing large complex collection projects involving hazardous materials. Well-developed negotiating and communicating skills and the ability to build strong working relationships are also essential.
