Job summary

Royal Mail is recruiting a Collection and Network Driver at the Darlington Delivery Office (DL1 1AA). This permanent contract is for 20 hours per week, with shifts across 5 days between 15:00 and 19:00.

You will play a vital part in delivering on our promise to bring trust to the doorstep and support our local customers. As a driver, you’ll check post-boxes, visit business customers, collect mail, and drop items at processing centres.

Qualifications

• Full UK manual driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points.
• Willingness to walk for long periods and work outdoors in all weather.
• Able to work across flexible shift patterns.
• Strong sense of community and pride in work.

Responsibilities

• Deliver items on your route securely.
• Check post-boxes and visit post offices.
• Collect mail and drop off at processing centres.
• Sort mailbags for correct routing.
• Deliver election materials in line with standards.

Please note: For candidate search purposes, roles offering between 35-37 hours per week are listed as full-time. However, any role under 37 hours per week will be classified as part-time in the employment contract.

As a Collection Driver, you’re expected to securely deliver all items on your route, including handling and delivering election materials and certain items (such as food products or alcohol) in line with Royal Mail business standards.
