As a Colleague Relations Case Manager , you’ll play a key role in fostering a positive and inclusive working environment. You’ll provide expert guidance, coaching, and support to line managers across your aligned region or corporate area, helping them navigate complex colleague relations cases with confidence and clarity. Your impartial advice will strengthen capability, ensure consistent application of policies, and empower managers to make the right decisions, first time.

Who you are

You’re a compassionate HR professional with a strong background in colleague relations and case management. You bring sound judgment, emotional intelligence, and a calm, solutions-focused approach to complex situations. With a deep understanding of employment law and HR best practice, you’re skilled at coaching managers, navigating sensitive issues, and driving fair, consistent outcomes. You thrive in a values-led organisation, and you’re passionate about creating a positive workplace culture where people feel supported, respected, and empowered to succeed.

Key responsibilities:

  • Build trusted, credible relationships with management teams and People Business Partners across the regional or corporate area to provide CR advice, guidance, and resolution for CR cases, following through to resolution and tracking advice in the CR Case Management System.
  • Demonstrate sound judgement, ensuring balanced advice based on assessment of risk that derives results that are in line with our values and culture as well as commercially balanced.
  • Coaching and influencing managers to help develop their confidence, capability and judgement when making colleague relations decisions.
  • Advising managers to effectively resolve problems and disputes, working towards permanent resolutions which will enable teams to focus on what’s important to them and our business. Encouraging informal dispute resolution where possible.
  • High standards of case confidentiality and ensure that confidentiality is a clearly understood element of all business relationships between the team and those they advise in.
  • Provide your key stakeholder with case data and insights to formulate any proactive learning interventions and coaching that improves management capability.
  • Improve and coach line managers in managing investigations, disciplinaries, appeals, absence, fair treatments, performance, flexible working, TUPE consultation and discrimination cases to protect the reputation of the NHS PS and prevent unnecessary litigation and risk.
  • Providing consistent advice, guidance and supporting documents in line with NHSPS policies and procedures to prevent unnecessary confusion or mixed messaged for our colleagues or line managers.
  • Excellent prioritisation of case management and workload, ensuring time and focus is spent on the right cases and activities to deliver the CR strategy of creating a positive colleague relations culture

Where you’ll be

We have a hybrid model, t here will be travel across the Midlands area weekly with this specific role and this role requires regular presence in our London office.
