  • To provide a qualified specialist CBT service to people presenting with moderate to severe depression and anxiety. This involves referral screening and assessments to determine suitability for the service, and NICE-recommended CBT treatment in individual and group format, and via online computerised CBT platforms. Appointments take place in person, via video, or via telephone. The role may also include supporting PWPs to facilitate community and/or in-house workshops.
  • To work with people from different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary, being committed to equal opportunities
  • To provide advice and consultation on clients’ psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues and to other, non-professional carers
  • To provide supervision of other colleagues such as PWPs, trainee HI therapists, trainee psychologists and trainees from other professional groups as appropriate
  • To work one evening shift a week (12-8pm) – as we are passionate about engaging all groups of our community, we operate evening clinics (up until 8pm) Monday - Thursday
  • To work autonomously within professional guidelines and within the overall framework of the team’s policies and procedures
  • To utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the area served by the team/service
  • To provide specialist CBT assessments of clients referred to the Hounslow Talking Therapies service based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources including psychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the client’s care
  • To work with clients with a range of mild to moderate mental health difficulties (including a range of anxiety disorders and single or recurrent depressive disorder)
  • To formulate and implement plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of a client’s mental health difficulties, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the client’s difficulties, and employing methods based upon evidence of efficacy, across the full range of care settings
  • To be responsible for implementing a range of psychological interventions for individuals, carers, families and groups, adjusting and refining psychological formulations and drawing upon different explanatory models.
