An exciting opportunity has become available for a Full time Band 7 practitioner (qualified in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Supervision) to join the CAMHS Mental Health Support Team in Bracknell.

The Mental Health Support Team (MHST) provides assessments and short-term, evidence-based therapeutic interventions to young people with mild to moderate mental health needs. Clinicians will promote the emotional wellbeing and mental health of young people in educational settings. They will offer advice, information and support to young people and families, and consultation and training to professionals, as appropriate. Outreach support may be provided to promote engagement, where needed. You will lead the Slough Mental Health Support Team (MHST) and work closely with your Getting Help Team (GHT) colleagues and the MHST/Getting Help Team Lead to provide mental health consultations and advice to partner agencies, including the Local Authority, Youth Offending Teams and CAMHS pathways.

This is an important post at the interface with education settings, partner agencies, and specialist CAMHS. The Mental Health Support Team sits alongside the Getting Help Team. Operational management and clinical supervision will be provided within Berkshire Healthcare CAMHS.

Main duties of the job

1. Clinical assessments for young people up to the age of 18 years, presenting with mild to moderate mental health problems.
2. Evidence-based therapeutic interventions (individual, group, family, as appropriate).
3. Offer training, consultation, and supervision to external agencies regarding the mental health presentation of children and young people accessing the MHST.
4. Promote a whole school-based approach to developing and maintaining emotional health and well-being.
5. Provide leadership to the MHST and deputise leadership to the team as required.
6. Ensure liaison and joint working between the Getting Help/MHST and the locality Early Help Hub and specialist CAMHS services.
7. Use routine outcome measures to promote active participation from young people and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions.
8. Provide training to professionals.
9. Supervision, as appropriate to role.

Person specification

Education/Qualifications/Training

• Postgraduate Diploma qualification in Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy (CBT) or equivalent (Doctoral) level training and relevant UK Professional Registration (HCPC/BPS) or as a Systemic Family Psychotherapist (MA/MSc qualification with full registration as a Systemic Psychotherapist with UKCP) or appropriate qualification to be an existing CAMHS clinician at Band 7.
• Undertaken a qualification in one of the core mental health professions recognized by BABCP with associated professional registration including: Nursing qualification and registration as RMN or RNLD, Social Worker, Occupational Therapy.
• Other mental health professional training accepted by HCPC, BPS, or BABCP.
• Evidence of achieving and completing the Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes (KSA) portfolio route to BABCP Accreditation.
• Accreditation with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapy (BABCP) or meets criteria for accreditation and working towards accreditation with BABCP.

Continuous Professional Development

• Commitment to ongoing professional development as recommended by the BABCP and staying up to date with advancements in CBT related therapies.
• Evidence of specific training, experience, and/or interest in psychological models and therapeutic approaches relevant to post.

Previous Experience

• Experience in completing CBT assessments, formulations, and interventions in a specialist healthcare or secondary care community mental health setting.
• Experience of providing, and adapting where necessary, CBT assessments, formulations, and interventions with service users relevant to the service area.
• Experience of providing CBT (assessment, formulation, and treatment) with service users (and their carers/families) presenting with the full range of clinical severity.
