Job Description:

KPMG’s UK Deal Advisory team is recruiting ambitious, innovative, and high-performing individuals at all levels to accelerate the growth of its recently launched Turnaround Team

KPMG’s Turnaround Team offers an exciting opportunity to work within dynamic, flexible, fast-moving environments and is the first line of response to opportunities arising from operational underperformance and/or financial pressure.

We have recently invested significantly in this team, including several experienced partners/directors, and are actively recruiting staff to help accelerate this growth initiative. We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where all colleagues thrive and reach their full potential, regardless of their identity or background. This is fundamental to our success as a business. The Turnaround Team is intentionally building a diverse, high-performance team, seeking applicants with experience across multiple industry sectors and business functions.

Our Turnaround Team operates nationally and is embedded within the rapidly growing Deal Advisory business as part of the Corporate Finance team. We deliver a broad spectrum of corporate advisory work, serving regional and large corporate clients across the UK. This enables us to provide tailored, solutions-led approaches to help companies preserve value and achieve sustainable growth.

We support businesses through the entire economic cycle by offering:

  • Internal and external stakeholder stabilization and management
  • Short-term liquidity management
  • Business plan assessment, challenge, and analysis
  • Identification and assessment of options
  • Business disposals or managed exits
  • Cost reduction and performance improvement
  • Economic profitability assessments
  • Development of integrated financial and operational turnaround plans
  • Implementation support

The key attributes of an Associate Director within the Turnaround Team include:

  • An analytical mindset with strong commercial and business acumen
  • Leadership and communication skills to influence and collaborate with senior stakeholders, including PE firms, lenders, corporates, and internal KPMG teams
  • Experience leading multi-work stream advisory projects such as financial restructuring, stakeholder advisory, turnaround, liquidity, and business reviews
  • An existing professional network of client relationships across corporates, lenders, private equity, and other stakeholders
  • Creativity and willingness to explore new approaches, as clients often face complex, unforeseen issues
  • Team management, coaching, training, and mentoring skills to develop diverse talent both on and off client engagements

You may have a background in professional services, consulting, finance, or operations, with success in turnaround, financial analysis, restructuring, or transactions. Sector expertise in consumer, industrials, healthcare & life sciences, TMT, business services, energy & natural resources is beneficial but not essential. Experience in fast-paced environments and working with financially or operationally challenged businesses is also advantageous.
