Responsibilities

• Understand and document existing Cobol programs.

• Assist in migrating legacy Cobol code to newer technologies.

Job description

Excellent long term contract role for experienced Cobol Developers with 5 -10 years Cobol Development experience to join a leading insurance company.

Native COBOL and AS400 Screen Design experience is mandatory.

A COBOL developer with 5+ years’ experience with the following skills:

• Sound knowledge of IBM iseries
• COBOL 400 native
• SQL400
• AS400 environment ( Should be familiar with commands like WRKACTJOB,DSPJOBLOG,DSPMSG … error messages e.g MCH603)
• CLP/Queries/SQLCBL/LDA
• Logical files
• Exposure to insurance sector would be an advantage

Our client is looking for a dynamic candidate with a positive attitude and a critical mind who will easily adapt to the working environment and perform the following duties:

• Understand the coding and logic behind existing Cobol programs and be able to relate to the business needs. Provide documentation /program specifications of existing Cobol programs.
• Trouble shooting and bug fixing of existing Cobol programs
• Maintain/develop, test and deploy Cobol programs
• Help in the migration of legacy Cobol coding to new technologies
