Job Description

We are seeking a Coatings Laboratory Technician to perform sampling and analysis of protective coatings, ensuring compliance with test procedures, standards, and customer requirements. The role involves conducting round robin analyses, recording and investigating failures, and maintaining high standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and analyze samples according to test procedures and client specifications.
  • Process samples within agreed turnaround times to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Log ongoing tests daily to meet operational targets.
  • Report equipment failures and assist in remedial actions.
  • Maintain organized, auditable work systems and high housekeeping standards.
  • Understand laboratory techniques and equipment to uphold quality and safety standards.
  • Escalate client inquiries to senior staff for timely resolution.
Qualifications

Candidates should have a science background, preferably in polymer science, chemistry, mechanical engineering, or corrosion engineering. Strong organizational skills and adaptability are essential.

  • Experience in a testing laboratory meeting strict process and client demands.
  • GCSE Science/Mathematics/English (grades A-C) or equivalent.
Desirable Attributes
  • Experience in a UKAS-accredited laboratory.
  • Experience in petrochemical-related service industries.
  • Knowledge of paints, coatings, or polymers.
  • Practical chemistry or related science experience.
