Rotating Shift work between the hours of 6am and 10pm
(1 week early shift, 1 week late shift, Monday to Friday)

G&H is a world leader in optical designing, testing and manufacturing. As experts in the technology of light, G&H works with customers to provide optical systems, assemblies, and components for demanding applications. We currently have a vacancy in our busy coating department. As a Coating Operator, you will play a pivotal role in our operations, responsible for processing products to meet quoted yield expectations. This involves a range of tasks including cleaning, loading, coating, and measuring. Adhering closely to written QMS & H&S procedures, manufacturing instructions, and test procedures is essential, ensuring the quality of the final product. The role requires a keen eye for detail and a commitment to performing interim quality checks diligently.
Main responsibilities include:
- Preparation of coating chambers prior to coating product and completing routine user maintenance (plant cleans)
- Cleaning of substrates in line with manufacturing instruction sheets and applying quality control on cleanliness and cosmetic condition
- Handling of substrates in a manner to preserve the highest level of cosmetic appearance when loading and unloading, and applying quality control checks pre and post coating
- Correctly set-up coatings equipment to coat product, ensuring all correct settings have been applied using buddy check system
- Correctly set-up measurement equipment to confirm thin film performances and to generate customer quality graphs
- Accurately perform environmental and durability testing in accordance with the MIS to confirm thin film quality
Ideal candidates will have the following:
- 2+ Years’ experience in Thin Film Manufacture (desired) or similar work experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment
- GCSE or equivalent qualifications in English, Maths and Science (Grade C+)
- Critical thinking and problem solving
- Result orientated with a positive, can-do attitude
- Flexible approach to working and shift patterns
- Willingness to learn and develop skills
- Attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and computer literacy
