Job description

We are looking for a dynamic Community Clinical Lead Midwife to manage our community maternity service based at Salisbury District Hospital. The role involves working as part of the Community Maternity team to ensure safe, effective, evidence-based midwifery care for women and their families. You will collaborate with the outpatient maternity matron, obstetricians, specialist midwives, midwifery assistants, GPs, and health visitors to ensure smooth service delivery. Excellent communication skills are essential for effective multidisciplinary teamwork. The role includes a clinical component and participation in the duty manager rota.

The post holder will promote a holistic approach to maternity care, providing effective management and supportive midwifery leadership to the community midwifery teams. You will work as an autonomous clinical midwife, acting as a role model and leader, and will be responsible for clinical, professional, and managerial leadership. Responsibilities include ensuring high standards of clinical care, resource management, liaising with other agencies, supervising practice, and staff and student teaching. You will also participate in implementing national recommendations such as those from The Ockenden Report.

Please see the attached job description and person specification for full details of roles and responsibilities. Note: Due to recent changes in UK immigration and visa rules, applications from those without the right to work in the UK may not be considered. Candidates requiring sponsorship should review eligibility criteria on the gov.uk website before applying.

This vacancy may close earlier than advertised if sufficient applications are received. We do not accept applications or queries via agencies.

Additional information includes participation in seasonal respiratory vaccination, on-site parking (fee applies), encouragement of green travel methods, and our commitment to equality and diversity. Staff may need to fund a DBS check, which can be reclaimed from salary, with options to join the DBS update service.

We support flexible working and offer a range of NHS benefits, including holiday entitlement, pension schemes, and on-site facilities. For more details, see our Employee Value Proposition document.
