A healthcare organization in Truro is looking for a Specialist Screening Practitioner CNS Lead for the Bowel Cancer Screening Programme. You will provide clinical leadership, oversee service quality, and manage operational aspects of the programme. An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Bowel Screening Team for a Specialist Screening Practitioner CNS Lead.
The post holder will be responsible for the clinical leadership and involvement in the operational management of the Bowel Cancer Screening Programme (BCSP) within Cornwall. Ensuring the delivery of a high-quality, equitable screening service that adheres to national standards and guidelines while maximising participation rates and positive patient experiences. They will be responsible for providing highly specialised advice which contributes to the diagnosis, care or education of patients and staff within the bowel cancer screening programme.
The post holder will lead quality assurance activity and specialist BCSP knowledge within the service, evaluating service delivery, identifying areas for improvement and initiate change, working in partnership with the programme manager to meet demand with capacity. They will also develop and maintain robust clinical governance frameworks, driving continuous quality improvement, and foster a culture of excellence within the service.
Part Time - 32.5 hours per week
As part of the multi-disciplinary team, and under the supervision of a senior nurse and/or consultant gastroenterologist, the post-holder will utilise their specialist knowledge and skills.
The post holder will be expected to work one day per month in ward-based clinical practice (unless previously exempt through the exception panel process).
The post holder will initially be based in the specialty of Gastroenterology in Specialist Services and Surgery. The post holder will be a highly experienced nurse who uses specialist knowledge and skills to support the Centre Director of the Cornwall Bowel Cancer Screening Programme to provide continuity in the management, clinical treatment and care of patients to meet the needs of the service.
The post holder will be able to take a relevant history and clinical assessment to develop a management plan and evaluate the progress of that plan within the limitations of their knowledge and skills while being supported by medical and other members of the multi-disciplinary team. They will demonstrate clinical judgement and critical decision-making skills based upon established guidelines.
