JRS Associates have partnered with a leading precision engineering manufacturer to recruit an experienced CNC Universal Grinder to join their growing manufacturing team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Cylindrical Grinder to join a highly skilled engineering environment, working on complex precision components while benefiting from an excellent hourly rate, day shifts and overtime opportunities.
The Successful CNC Universal Grinder – Package:
- £21.00 to £23.00 per hour, depending on experience
- Overtime paid at 1.5x
- Permanent position
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday: 7.00am – 3.00pm

The Successful CNC Universal Grinder – Requirements:
- Previous experience as a CNC Cylindrical Grinder / Universal Grinder
- Strong experience with internal and external cylindrical grinding
- Experienced setting and operating CNC grinding machines
- Confident reading and interpreting engineering drawings
- Experienced manufacturing precision components to tight tolerances
- Good knowledge of grinding techniques, wheel selection and dressing
- Competent using Micrometers, Bore Gauges, Air Gauges and other precision measuring equipment
- Able to work independently and maintain high standards of accuracy
- Kellenberger grinding experience would be highly advantageous
- Heidenhain control experience would be highly advantageous
- Experience with Studer, Jones & Shipman, Churchill, Voumard or similar universal grinding machines will also be considered
The Successful CNC Universal Grinder – Key Responsibilities:
- Set and operate CNC Universal Grinding machines
- Produce precision-engineered components to engineering drawings and specifications
- Carry out internal and external cylindrical grinding operations
- Work to tight dimensional and geometric tolerances
- Set and dress grinding wheels as required
- Make machine adjustments and offsets to maintain component accuracy
- Carry out in-process inspection using precision measuring equipment
- Monitor component quality throughout the grinding processli>
- Identify and correct dimensional issues where required
- Maintain high standards of quality, safety and housekeeping
The company operates Kellenberger KEL-VIVA UR 175/1000 Universal Grinding machines with Heidenhain controls, so previous experience with this equipment would be particularly advantageous.
