Job summary

Dexory in the United Kingdom is seeking an experienced CNC Turner to programme, set and operate Fanuc-controlled CNC lathes with live tooling and twin-spindle capability. You will manufacture precision components from drawings or CAD models, taking parts from programming through first-off inspection to repeat production while collaborating with engineering and manufacturing teams.

  • Experience programming, setting and operating Fanuc CNC lathes.
  • Competence with live tooling and twin-spindle turning.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and GD&T.

Responsibilities

  • Programme, set and operate Fanuc CNC turning centres.
  • Produce components from drawings, CAD models and specifications.
  • Programme twin-spindle operations, live tooling and multi-axis machining.
  • Create and optimise CNC programs using Fanuc controls, Fusion 360 CAM and verification software.
  • Select appropriate cutting tools, inserts, holders, workholding, speeds and feeds.
  • Manufacture prototypes, small batches and repeat-production components.
  • Complete machine setups, including tooling, workholding, datum setting and tool-offset management.
  • Carry out first-off and in-process inspection using appropriate measuring equipment.
  • Ensure components meet dimensional, geometric tolerance and surface-finish requirements.
  • Work with engineering to provide practical design-for-manufacture input.
  • Improve setup times, cycle times, tool life, process reliability and material utilisation.
  • Troubleshoot programming, tooling, dimensional and machining issues.
  • Maintain clear setup sheets, tooling records and inspection documentation.
  • Support probing, tool-life monitoring, standardised setups, machine tending and lights-out machining.
  • Support other CNC machining activities where required.
  • Strong, hands-on experience programming, setting and operating Fanuc-controlled CNC lathes.
  • Experience with twin-spindle CNC turning.
  • Experience programming and operating live or driven tooling.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, including GD&T.
  • Strong knowledge of cutting tools, inserts, workholding, speeds and feeds.
  • Experience producing and inspecting precision-machined components.
  • Good understanding of G-code and CNC program structure.
  • Ability to carry out first-off and in-process inspection using micrometers, verniers, bore gauges, thread gauges and similar equipment.
  • Strong practical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced CNC Turner to programme, set and operate advanced Fanuc-controlled CNC lathes with live tooling and twin-spindle capability. You will manufacture precision components for our robots, taking parts from engineering drawing or CAD model through programming, setup, first-off inspection and repeat production.

You will work closely with our engineering and manufacturing teams on new components, process improvement and the continued development of automated and unattended CNC production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sub-spindle part transfer, simultaneous machining and cycle-time optimisation.
  • Automated machining, probing, bar feeding, robotic machine tending or unattended production.
  • High-mix, low-to-medium-volume precision manufacturing.
  • Experience within robotics, automation, motorsport, aerospace or another advanced engineering environment.
