Job summary

TE Connectivity is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist (Turner) in Hastings to set up, program and operate 3–5 axis machines. You will follow EH&S policies, maintain clean work areas, and contribute to continuous improvement. Swing shift availability and a strong emphasis on quality and efficiency are required.

The role requires an apprenticeship in mechanical engineering, experience with Fanuc, Citizen and Mazatrol, and a proactive, detail‑oriented team player ready to multi‑skill.

Qualifications

• Time served apprentice with C&G/NVQ or equivalent in mechanical engineering discipline.
• Experience on alternating early/late shifts with minimal supervision.
• Experience setting and operating 3, 4 and 5 axis CNC machine tools.
• Experience with Fanuc, Citizen and Mazatrol control systems is desirable.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings.
• Experience using a range of measurement equipment.
• Adhere to TE policies and EHS/safety standards.
• Demonstrate initiative and reliability with ability to multi-skill.
• Excellent communication at all levels and team oriented.
• Fully flexible with tasks and ability to take on additional responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Set up 3, 4, and 5 axis CNC machine tools by installing and adjusting workholding devices, tooling and bar feeders.
• Operate 3, 4, and 5 axis CNC machines and minimise downtime.
• Verify programs and settings using measuring equipment and adjust as needed.
• Ensure components conform to drawings and quality procedures using inspection equipment.
• Record daily operations and report OEE metrics.
• Contribute to continuous improvement activities per TEOA site plan.
• Maintain time standards and housekeeping.
• Follow health and safety regulations and TE policies.
• Support ad-hoc tasks within Production as required.

Job Overview

TE Connectivity's CNC Machinists are responsible for the setup, optimisation, and operation of various CNC Machines within the machine shop. Every team member is responsible for maintaining housekeeping and organization of the work area as well as following TE Connectivity's EH&S policies and procedures.

What your background should look like:

• Set-up a range of 3, 4, and 5 axis CNC machine tools by installing and adjusting work holding devices, tooling, spindle liners and bar feeders.
• Operate a range of 3, 4, and 5 axis CNC machine tools, ensuring that machine down time is minimised.
• Verify programs and settings using a range of measuring equipment on first articles and apply appropriate adjustments and program modifications.
• Ensure component compliance in accordance with engineering drawings and quality procedures using a range of inspection equipment.
• Record daily operations on machine tools and provide operational equipment effectiveness (OEE) results daily.
• Contribute to continuous improvement activities within the department. Improving processes and applying tools and methods from the TEOA site plan.
• Maintain and improve time standards.
• Ensure that daily maintenance is carried out as required.
• Maintain a high level of housekeeping.
• Observe health and safety regulations as laid down in company procedures and government legislation.
• Adhere to company procedure at all times.
• To support with any other ad-hoc tasks where required
• To carry out any other reasonable tasks as may be requested from time to time by the business within Production or elsewhere as may be required.
