Job summary

IMT Resourcing Solutions Ltd on behalf of our client, a specialist precision engineering manufacturer, is seeking an experienced CNC Turner who can set, operate and programme turning machines to tight tolerances.

You will work from detailed drawings, select tooling and feeds, use live tooling where required, and contribute to quality, yields and safety in a regulated environment. This hands-on role offers progression and exposure to complex, high-precision components across demanding industries.

Qualifications

• Proven experience setting, operating and programming CNC turning machinery.
• Experience with multi-axis CNC machining.
• Strong understanding of tooling, speeds, feeds and materials.
• Experience working to tight tolerances in a precision environment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Confident using manual measuring equipment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a production team.

Responsibilities

CNC Turner / Programmer Setter

Our client, a specialist precision engineering manufacturer, is looking for an experienced CNC Machinist to join their production team, manufacturing complex, high-quality components for demanding industries.

This is a hands-on role for an experienced CNC Turner who can confidently set, operate and programme CNC machinery, working to tight tolerances across a range of materials and complex components.

The Role

• Set, operate and programme CNC turning and multi-axis machinery
• Manufacture precision-engineered components to detailed drawings and specifications
• Work with live tooling and complex machining operations
• Select appropriate tooling, speeds and feeds for different materials
• Work closely with the wider production team to achieve agreed manufacturing timescales
• Carry out dimensional checks using manual measuring equipment
• Ensure all required production and quality documentation is completed accurately
• Support improvements in machining efficiency, quality and productivity
• Maintain high standards of safety and housekeeping

The Person

• Proven experience setting, operating and programming CNC turning machinery
• Experience with multi-axis CNC machining
• Strong understanding of tooling, speeds, feeds and different materials
• Experience working to tight tolerances within a precision engineering environment
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
• Confident using manual measuring equipment
• Ability to work independently and as part of a production team

Desirable

• Apprentice trained with a recognised engineering qualification such as City & Guilds or HNC
• FANUC, Okuma, ISO or Mazatrol programming experience
• Experience with live tooling / Mill-Turn machinery
• Experience with Victor, Hyundai or Doosan machinery
• CMM inspection experience
• CAD/CAM knowledge, particularly SolidWorks or hyperMILL
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing
• Experience manufacturing complex components from difficult-to-machine materials
• Experience within a highly regulated manufacturing environment
