Job description

Our client specializes in manufacturing various gearing systems. They are seeking a CNC Turner to operate different machines to produce conforming products. The role involves assisting with setup and preparation of materials and tooling for upcoming jobs, working from engineering drawings to produce precision components for clients in the aerospace and automotive industries.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Undertake CNC turn/mill machine setups according to detailed product operation requirements, including selection and loading of relevant programs for gear cutting.
2. Ensure correct and secure loading and clamping of products.
3. Assist and change machine settings between jobs within specified timeframes.
4. Read and interpret engineering drawings.
5. Adjust machine parameters and tooling as needed to meet dimensional and output specifications.
6. Use micrometers, verniers, and other inspection equipment to verify work against drawings and validation sheets.
7. Ensure all machine components are operational and damage-free before use; report and replace broken or damaged tools promptly.
8. Set up and operate multiple machines when batch sizes permit.
9. Achieve production targets by conducting in-process inspections and ensuring products meet quality standards.
10. Support colleagues with additional duties to ensure smooth operations.

Skills and Qualifications/Experience:

1. 3-5 years of relevant experience in a similar role or industry.
2. Previous experience with CNC machines.
3. Proficiency in using various measuring equipment.
4. Strong math and technical skills.
5. Experience in systematic problem solving.
6. Proactive attitude and team-oriented approach.
7. Quick learner, adaptable to change.
8. Excellent attention to detail.
9. Ability to work efficiently to meet deadlines.
10. Shift premium of 20% for the first 37 hours.

Hours:

1. During training: 1st shift (06:30 – 15:15, Monday – Thursday, and 06:00 – 13:00, Friday, 40 hours/week).
2. Post-training: 2nd shift hours are 14:45 – 00:00, Monday to Thursday, once enough staff are trained.
