The Role
As a CNC Automation Technician, you will be a key part of the production team, providing technical support for CNC machines and automated systems. This shop-floor-based role is essential in ensuring continuity of production output, resolving issues quickly, and driving continuous improvement.
- Provide hands-on technical support to production, ensuring CNC machines operate effectively and downtime is minimised
- Optimise machine functionality and carry out basic maintenance to maximise uptime
- Control programme back-up systems, make corrections, and record changes
- Implement recovery procedures when errors occur, documenting causes and preventative actions
- Liaise with tooling and equipment suppliers to resolve persistent issues
- Manage shop-floor consumables and spares to support production teams
- Conduct audits on operator TPMs to ensure equipment care and quality standards are met
- Collaborate with Production Engineers on SOPs, TPMs, risk assessments, and training records
- Support new part introductions and engineering change validations for CNC machining
- Perform CNC ISO programming (Fanuc) both online and offline, including Renishaw macro programming
- Identify waste and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance OEE
About You
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar CNC technical support role
- Skilled in operating, programming, and recovery systems for CNC machining centres
- Strong understanding of tooling, feeds and speeds, material handling, and coolant specification for H&S and environmental compliance
- Experience with Fanuc CNC ISO programming
- Renishaw programming knowledge desirable
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive, team-oriented mindset
