Job summary

Matchtech is recruiting for an experienced CNC Setter/Operator to join a precision engineering manufacturer in Havant. You will set and operate Sliding Head CNC machines to produce high-quality components, with training available for the right candidate.

Two shift patterns are offered: Double Days with a favourable hourly rate plus 18% shift allowance (£16.53/hour equivalent) and Permanent Nights with 30% shift allowance (£18.21/hour equivalent).

Qualifications

• Experience in CNC machining is required.
• Must be able to set and operate CNC machinery.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Understanding of machining principles, tooling and cutting data.
• Experience using micrometers, verniers and gauges.
• Ability to work accurately to tight tolerances.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Proactive and reliable approach to work.

Responsibilities

• Set and operate Sliding Head CNC machines.
• Carry out tooling changes, offset adjustments and machine set-ups.
• Produce precision components to tight tolerances and customer specifications.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
• Perform first-off, in-process and final inspections.
• Use precision measuring and inspection equipment.
• Troubleshoot machining issues and maintain production efficiency.
• Ensure quality, safety and housekeeping standards are maintained.

CNC Setter/Operator - Sliding Head

Havant, Hampshire
Double Days: £14.01 per hour + 18% shift allowance (£16.53 per hour equivalent) | £32,228 per annum
Permanent Nights: £14.01 per hour + 30% shift allowance (£18.21 per hour equivalent) | £37,877 per annum

Shift Patterns

Double Days (37.5 hours per week)

• Week 1: 06:00 - 14:00
• Week 2: 14:00 - 22:00

Permanent Nights (40 hours per week, paid breaks included)

• Monday to Friday
• 22:00 - 06:00

To be considered for this role, you should have:

Desirable Experience

• Previous Sliding Head CNC experience.
• Experience editing offsets and making tooling adjustments.
• Experience within a precision engineering or high-volume manufacturing environment.
• Ability to work independently and solve production issues effectively.
