Job description

CNC Programmer & Setter
Location: Newton Abbot
Salary: £35,000 per annum
Working Hours: Monday to Wednesday: 7:00am - 5:30pm | Thursday: 7:00am - 4:30pm (39 hours/week)
Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent

We are seeking a talented and experienced CNC Programmer & Setter to join our engineering team in Newton Abbot.This is an excellent opportunity to work with a forward-thinking company that values quality, precision, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Program and set CNC machines for production runs.

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and CAD files.

  • Ensure components meet tight tolerances and quality standards.

  • Conduct routine checks, make adjustments, and maintain machines.

  • Collaborate with production and quality teams to optimise workflow.

Skills & Experience Required:
  • Experience with CNC programming and setting.

  • Strong understanding of Fanuc (or similar) CNC control systems.

  • Ability to read and interpret detailed technical drawings.

  • Skilled in the use of manual and digital measuring instruments (micrometers, verniers, gauges).

  • Good mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability.

  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Desirable:
  • Experience with Star or Citizen sliding head machines.

  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement practices.
