CNC Setter / Operator (Turner)
Location: Near Hailsham, East Sussex
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Hours: Monday Friday, 37 hours (some flexibility available)

A fantastic opportunity has opened up for an experienced CNC Setter / Operator (Turner) to join a high-precision engineering team producing ultra-high specification components for advanced research and manufacturing industries. Based in a purpose-built facility in East Sussex, this is an exciting time to join a growing and forward-thinking company.

As a CNC Setter / Operator (Turner), you ll play a key role in machining complex turned components. You ll be responsible for setting and running CNC lathes, adjusting programs, maintaining quality standards, and delivering work on time.

Key Responsibilities of the CNC Setter / Operator (Turner):

  • Set and run proven/unproven CNC lathe programs, adjusting coordinates and correcting errors
  • Produce accurate first-off parts to specification
  • Carry out routine equipment maintenance and troubleshoot potential machining issues
  • Work across different machines as required
  • Support training and continuous improvement initiatives

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Strong background in CNC turning with minimum 5 years' machining experience
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and GD&T
  • Confident working with ISO and conversational programming
  • Familiar with a range of machine controls and how materials react during machining
  • Focused on quality, accuracy, and meeting deadlines

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with AlphaCAM or offline programming (training available)
  • Familiarity with Faro Arm inspection
  • Manual and CNC turning experience
  • IT-literate and confident with modern software tools
