Job summary

TQR Consultancy Ltd, based in Plymouth, is seeking experienced CNC Setters/Operators to join a large engineering company.

You will set and operate Fanuc controlled CNC and PLC machinery, read engineering drawings and adhere to quality standards. The role includes loading tooling, completing first-offs, and maintaining TPM and housekeeping to meet targets.

Qualifications

• Recent, proven experience as CNC Setter/Operator in engineering/manufacturing.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and use analogue & digital measuring tools.
• Excellent eye for detail and commitment to quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Set and operate machinery in the designated cell as directed by the Team Leader.
• Set tooling and jigs per production engineering and quality standards.
• Load/unload components and ensure correct guarding and safety.
• Complete first-offs and checks in line with SOPs and quality procedures.
• Record work orders, part numbers and reasons for any issues to the Cell Leader.
• Perform TPM and maintain good housekeeping in your area.
• Communicate breakdowns or machine anomalies to the team.
• Adhere to shift patterns and production targets.

Job description

Experienced CNC Setters / Operators required to work for large Engineering company based in Plymouth. Successful candidates will be required to set and operate both Fanuc controlled CNC and PLC Machinery. Key Responsibilities:

• Set and operate machinery in any cell as directed by Team Leader.
• Set and operate a cell unsupervised.
• Set machine tooling and jigs in accordance with production engineering and Company quality standards.
• Ensure tooling is fitted correctly and running in accordance with specification sheets.
• Complete first-off’s and appropriate checks in compliance with Company quality and production engineering standards.
• Load and unload components from machinery.
• Read Engineering Drawings and adhere to SOP’s.
• Use analogue and digital measuring equipment such as Verniers and Micrometres.
• Achieve production targets – where variances occur, report to the Cell Leader or Senior Cell Leader.
• Communicate breakdowns or machine abnormalities to the Cell Leader, Senior Cell Leader or a member of the maintenance team.
• Report defects to cell leader, this includes scrap and RTS. Setter operator to report work order, part number and reason to the Cell Leader. Report damaged or faulty guarding or machinery to the Cell Leader immediately. Ensure machinery guarding is in place when machinery is operational.
• Stamp product to verify conformance with the Company quality standards.
• Observe and comply with all Company health, safety, quality and environmental standards.
• Perform frequency gauge checks in accordance with the Company’s production engineering and quality procedures.
• Complete daily short interval scheduling sheets clearly, accurately and in a timely manner.
• Complete daily/weekly machine setter operator checklist – coolants, oils and machine health and safety.
• Perform TPM as and when required.
• Train operators or setter operators as and when required.
• Good housekeeping within your area of work.

Essential Experience and Candidate attributes required:

• Recent, proven experience working as a CNC Setter / Operator within Engineering or Manufacturing.
• Experience of reading Engineering drawings and using analogue & digital Verniers and Micrometers.
• Excellent eye for detail.

Desirable Qualifications (Beneficial but not Essential):

• A Mechanical Engineering qualification such as BTEC, HNC or HND.

The successful candidate must be able to work either a weekly alternating shift comprising of Monday to Friday 06:00am to 14:00pm and Monday to Friday 14:00pm to 22:00pm or Static Nights of Sunday to Thursday 10:00pm to 6am Sunday Night to Thursday. The salaries advertised are inclusive of 20% shift premium for Alternating shift or 40% shift premium for night shift.
