Job summary

Office Angels in Ashford is seeking an experienced CNC Setter to join our client’s busy workshop. You will set and operate CNC machines, read engineering drawings and ensure production is delivered safely, on time and to high quality standards.

The role offers a full-time schedule, Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:30pm with overtime and an attractive hourly rate of £16.65. You should have hands-on experience with mills, lathes or machining centres and a proactive, team-oriented approach.

Qualifications

• Experience as CNC Setter in manufacturing essential.
• Able to read engineering drawings and specs.
• Familiar with tooling offsets and machine setup.

Responsibilities

Are you an experienced CNC Setter looking to join a well-established manufacturing business? Our client is seeking a skilled and proactive individual to join their workshop team in Ashford. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and takes pride in producing high-quality work while supporting an efficient production operation.

The Role Reporting to the Workshop Manager, you will play a key role in supporting production activities by setting and operating CNC machinery, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards. Key responsibilities include:

• Setting and operating CNC machinery to meet production schedules and business requirements
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and job specifications
• Selecting and installing the correct tooling, fixtures and machine settings
• Carrying out first-off inspections and making machine adjustments where required
• Working closely with the workshop team to achieve daily production targets
• Ensuring all finished work meets company quality standards
• Maintaining a clean, safe and organised work environment
• Following all company health and safety procedures and policies at all times
• Contributing to the smooth running of the manufacturing department

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience as a CNC Setter within a manufacturing environment (essential)
• Experience setting CNC mills, lathes or machining centres
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
• Knowledge of tooling, offsets and machine setup procedures
• Experience using measuring equipment such as verniers, micrometers and gauges
• Good computer literacy skills, including operating CNC control systems and touch-screen machine interfaces
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team
• A flexible and hands‑on approach with strong attention to detail
• A commitment to producing high-quality work and meeting production targets
• A good understanding of health and safety practices within a manufacturing environment
