CNC Sliding Head (Star) Swiss-type Automatic Lathe Programmer Setter Operator

Company Overview

Our client is a well-established and highly reputable subcontract manufacturer of precision components, supplying to the medical, aerospace, and various other high-spec industries. With over 25 years of experience and a strong commitment to quality and innovation, they continue to expand and invest in their capabilities. As part of their growth, they are looking to add an experienced CNC Programmer Setter Operator to their dedicated sliding head section.

Position Overview

Our client is seeking a skilled CNC Turner Programmer Setter Operator with experience using Fanuc controls and sliding head machinery. The successful candidate will be responsible for programming, setting, and operating multi-axis CNC lathes to manufacture complex and high-precision components.

Standard working hours are Monday to Thursday, 6:00 am 3:00 pm, and Friday, 6:00 am 12:00 pm. Overtime is available and paid accordingly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and prepare CNC turning machines with correct tooling, fixtures, and materials

  • Program and adjust settings using Fanuc control systems

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications

  • Complete 1st off inspections and ensure components meet quality standards

  • Report faults to the Production Manager and meet production targets

  • Collaborate with engineers and colleagues to optimise machining processes

  • Carry out routine maintenance and ensure machinery remains clean and in good working order

  • Follow all Health & Safety procedures and regulations

The Ideal Candidate

  • Proven experience programming, setting, and operating CNC sliding head machines

  • Skilled in Fanuc control systems, live tooling, and multi-axis lathes

  • Strong ability to read technical drawings and use measuring tools for quality checks

  • Confident running 1st offs and working independently

  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment

  • Good communication and teamwork skills

  • Flexible to work overtime as required

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Expected Hours: Minimum 40 per week
