Overview
CNC Recruitment is seeking skilled CNC Programmer Setter Operators to join a reputable client in the Bridgwater area. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced operators who take pride in their precision and independence, with potential to secure a long-term or permanent position.
Location: Bridgwater, Somerset
Pay Rate: Up to £17 an hour
Contract: Full time Permanent
Hours of Work - Monday - Thursday 7am - 4pm Friday 7am - 1:30pm
Responsibilities
- Create programs for the CNC machines from models and drawings using CAD/CAM packages for offline programming and online programming on the machines.
- Specify / select the correct tooling to manufacture the part using the most efficient processes.
- Specify / select the correct work holding system to manufacture the parts.
- Safely operate / use the machine.
- Load programs onto the machine and select the defined tooling and set it with the correct offsets.
- Conduct inspection of parts being produced by the machine they are setting and operating.
- Always use manual override to control the feed rate and monitor the distance to the job when setting a new job on a machine to prevent crashes of tooling into part/chuck/ work holding / fixture / billet table / etc.
- Always stop the machine before a crash/ impact that will cause damage to the machine / tooling / component or materials.
- Produce conforming parts to the drawings.
- Complete deburring operations as required.
- Change inserts, tools offsets when required.
- Ensure all documentation is completed accurately.
- Use the SFDC (Shop Floor Data Collection) to clock on and off the jobs accurately.
- Report non-conforming parts on SFDC and to the team leader.
- Suggest improvements to the program / tooling that will improve the productivity / quality of the parts or process.
- Conduct part marking when required.
- To run multiple machines where possible to maintain production.
- To be able to use all relevant Metrology Equipment.
- To be able to use CMM Measuring Equipment.
- Ask for further help and training when needed.
- Be the subject matter experts in CNC machining on the machines they are programming.
- Help train and mentor setter/operators, trainee setter/operators, operators, and apprentices.
- Use best practice to increase the efficiency, productivity, and quality of the programs for the machines.
- Suggest improvements to work holding, tooling, machinery and processes to increase productivity and adherence to customer requirements and satisfaction.
- Maintain the machinery as instructed.
- Work as an active team member and provide cover for other team members when required.
- Work in a collaborative and non-confrontational way.

Requirements
- Driving licence.
- Experience of programming, setting and operating CNC machinery.
- Experience of offline CAM packages.
- Experience of Solidworks or similar CAD packages that use models.
- Part marking experience.
- Deburring experience.
- Ability to follow instructions.
- Ability to use metrology equipment.
- Ability to read and follow work instructions.
- Good time management skills.
- Good problem-solving skills.
- Computer literate.
- Willingness to learn
