CNC Programmer / Technical Machinist

Location: Dunmow, Essex
Salary: £35,000 – £40,000 per annum

Noble Recruiting is working with a prestigious, design-led company based in Dunmow, Essex, currently looking to appoint an experienced CNC Programmer / Technical Machinist. This full-time, permanent role offers the opportunity to work on bespoke, high-end cabinetry and woodworking projects using advanced multi-axis CNC technology.

Please note: Own transport is essential due to the company’s location.

Role Overview

You will be responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC machinery to manufacture custom woodworking components with precision and craftsmanship. You’ll work closely with design and technical production teams to translate design intent into efficient machining strategies.

Key Responsibilities

• Program, set up, and operate 5-axis CNC machinery for bespoke cabinetry and joinery
• Interpret technical drawings, CAD files, and project specifications
• Calibrate and maintain machines to ensure optimal efficiency and reduce downtime
• Adjust programs for complex geometries during production runs
• Collaborate with the design team to translate concepts into practical machining plans
• Maintain a well-organised program library for repeat use
• Record production setups, changes, and deviations for quality control
• Use software such as Alphacam, NC-HOPS, and WoodWOP to generate efficient and accurate code

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Proven experience programming and operating CNC woodworking machinery
• Expert-level proficiency in Alphacam and experience with 5-axis CNC machines
• Working knowledge of NC-HOPS and ideally WoodWOP
• Deep understanding of joinery, woodworking principles, and fine cabinetry construction
• Skilled in reading and interpreting detailed technical drawings and CAD models
• Excellent troubleshooting skills for both mechanical and software-related issues
• Highly detail-oriented, with a commitment to craftsmanship and quality standards
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced workshop environment with shifting priorities
