Summary:

The Programming Engineer creates computer numerically controlled (CNC) programs to be used for automating machinists’ tools by using computer-generated electronic data.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years with CNC Milling multi-axis programming experience.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and strong knowledge of GD&T.
  • Strong knowledge in NX CAD/CAM.
  • Check completed programs using Vericut software.
  • Create Tooling and Setup Sheets.
  • Understanding of machining techniques and materials.
  • Ability to choose and/or design correct tooling, and apply speeds and feeds based on process and materials.
  • Analyze and solve tool and program-related issues on the floor.
  • Excellent communication skills interacting with operators and engineers.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet multiple deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
  • Review and modify existing Programs/Processes and Setup times for Continuous Improvement.
  • Past CNC 4&5 Milling experience preferred.
  • Complies with all safety regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills:

  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree or higher in related field preferred.

Working Conditions:

Normal production environments, subject to high noise levels from operating machines; physical hazards from moving equipment and sharp machine parts; breathing fumes, dust, and mist; skin exposure to oil and cutting fluid; exposure to sharp metal edges, and forklifts.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must have the ability to read applicable customer/B&E documents with or without corrective lenses.
  • Must be able to lift up to forty (40) pounds at a time, as required.
  • Must be able to push, pull, reach overhead, stand, walk, climb stairs, bend and/or sit for long periods of time.
  • Position requires the ability to remain seated in a stationary position for up to 90% of the time and support production on the manufacturing shop floor as needed.
