Job description

We currently have a vacancy for a CNC Machinist / Operator. We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic CNC Machinist to join our growing team. This is a full-time, permanent position with stable working hours and a supportive working environment.

About us & the role:

Sterling Machining Limited in Staveley Chesterfield Derbyshire are a leading sub-contract manufacturing company. We have modern Doosan machines with FANUC control systems.

The advertised position is an ongoing CNC lathe operator role, centred around repeat production runs with dependable workflow and minimal variation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate CNC machines to produce high-quality components.
  • Work from engineering drawings to ensure accuracy and quality.
  • Measure and check components throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Manage your own workload to ensure a consistent supply of parts.
  • Load and unload lorries as required.
  • Wrap and pack finished parts ready for dispatch.

What We’re Looking For:

  • CNC machining experience is beneficial but not essential.
  • Ability to read and work from engineering drawings.
  • Basic understanding of quality control and inspection.
  • A forklift licence is an advantage, but training can be provided if required.
  • Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work with minimal supervision.
