Position

Position Title: CNC Operator
Location: Paneltex Ltd, Rotterdam Road, Hull, HU7 0XD
Reporting to: Manager/Supervisor/Team Leader
Hours of work: 40 hours per week - Monday to Thursday 06:00 to 15:00 and Friday 06:00 to 12:00
Salary: From £12.50 per hour

Job Overview

Set-up and manage CNC machines to perform different jobs including cutting and drilling of panels. Loading programs into CNC machine. Entering initial settings (e.g., selecting parameters, positioning material and zeroing the machine). Working to set-up sheets for pod location. Loading workpieces onto the machine. Ensure the CNC machine operates in accordance with the guidelines of the company. Check machines on a daily basis to guarantee functionality. Perform QA inspection of goods presented using visual inspection and tape measure to confirm dimensions. Be able to set and operate machinery such as routers, circular saws, drills, woodworking machinery, CNC machines, Wall Saws, Beam Saw etc. Use of hand tools, hammer, chisels, clamps, etc.

Key Duties And Responsibilities
  • Document progress of products through the department by initialling against each individual process.
  • Translate engineering drawing requirements into dimensions for production.
  • After completion, the products are labelled and kitted up ready for assembly.
  • Be familiar with the company’s Health and Safety Policies and your responsibilities.
  • Comply with all relevant internal rules, policies and procedures, included in the company handbook.
  • Maintain a clean working area through 5S activities.
  • Perform periodic checks on equipment (TPM).
  • Ensure all machinery has the correct, sharp tooling.
  • Liaise with the indirect department for logistical purposes, such as Panel Kit movement/delivery to various production lines.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
  • Previous experience and proficiency in the use of handheld power tools.
  • Ability to understand metric tape measures confidently.
  • Previous experience and proficiency in the use of CNC routers.
  • Ability to read and understand detailed engineering drawings.
  • Setting up manufacturing equipment.
  • Setting up of CNC tooling.
  • High attention to detail and practical approach.
  • Ability to work to deadlines and be a good team player.
  • Effective communication including speaking, writing, active listening and taking instructions.
  • Good understanding of Health and Safety.
  • Punctual and reliable.
  • Flexible approach to overtime.
  • Ability to flag up quality issues.
