Job summary

The Recruitment Fix is looking for an apprenticeship-trained CNC Miller to join a busy specialist engineering company in Hyde. You will set up and operate CNC mills, read engineering drawings, and create part programmes as needed.

The role requires 2+ years of CNC milling experience and a strong understanding of controls such as Fanuc, Siemens, Haas, or Heidenhain. You will be responsible for tool selection, in-process inspection, and maintaining tight tolerances and surface finishes.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a CNC Miller or CNC Machinist.
• Strong understanding of CNC milling operations and tooling.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and GD&T.
• Knowledge of CNC controls (e.g., Fanuc, Siemens, Haas, Heidenhain)
• Experience with CAM software is an advantage.
• High attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Technical diploma or apprenticeship in machining or manufacturing.
• 2+ years CNC milling experience (or as required by employer).

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC milling machines (3-axis, 4-axis, or 5-axis as applicable).
• Read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Create part programmes when necessary.
• Load programs, set tool offsets, and perform test runs.
• Select appropriate tools, fixtures, and materials for each job.
• Monitor machining processes and make necessary adjustments.
• Carry out in process inspection using measuring tools (callipers, micrometres, gauges, etc.).
• Maintain tight tolerances and surface finish requirements.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Identify and correct machining defects or errors.
• Follow health, safety, and quality procedures at all times.
• Record production data and report issues to supervisors or engineers.
