Job summary

Holt Engineering Ltd in Yeovil is seeking an experienced CNC Miller to join a precision engineering environment. You will set and operate CNC milling machines, read engineering drawings and work to tight tolerances, with multiple shift patterns available to maximise earnings.

You will use various controls such as Fanuc, Heidenhain, Mazak or Siemens, perform first-off inspections, and contribute to a clean, safe workshop. Paid training and long-term progression are on offer in a modern facility.

Qualifications

• Experience as CNC Miller in a precision engineering environment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Experience working to tight tolerances and high-quality standards.
• Confident using inspection equipment.

Responsibilities

• Setting and operating CNC milling machines to produce precision-engineered components.
• Working from engineering drawings, CAD data, and production documentation.

• Using precision measuring equipment including micrometers, verniers, and gauges.

Key Responsibilities:

• Setting and operating CNC milling machines to produce precision-engineered components
• Working from engineering drawings, CAD data, and production documentation
• Carrying out first-off inspections and in-process quality checks
• Adjusting offsets and tooling to maintain tight tolerances
• Using precision measuring equipment including micrometers, verniers, and gauges

What We’re Looking For:

• Previous experience as a CNC Miller within a precision engineering environment
• Strong understanding of CNC machining processes, tooling, and workholding
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Experience working to tight tolerances and high-quality standards
• Confident using inspection equipment
• A proactive approach with strong attention to detail

Desirable Experience:

• Experience with Fanuc, Heidenhain, Mazak, Siemens, or similar controls
• 3, 4, or 5-axis milling experience
• Experience machining materials such as aluminium, stainless steel, titanium, or exotic alloys
• Engineering apprenticeship or time-served background
