Reporting To: Metallic Production Supervisor
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Metallic Machinist (Miller) to join a dynamic Machine Shop for a leading Formula 1 Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing high-quality metallic and non-metallic components with a focus on efficiency, accuracy, and collaboration. This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced prototype and low-volume production environment, with a strong emphasis on delivering quality components on time.
Key Responsibilities

  • Perform CNC and manual machining operations as directed by the Supervisor or Team Leader.
  • Ensure machining tasks are completed to meet deadlines, escalating issues where delays occur.
  • Collaborate with Toolpath Programming (TPP) to troubleshoot and optimise first-off components.
  • Liaise proactively with colleagues across the Machine Shop and wider business to share and implement best practices.
  • Conduct in-process inspection of first-off parts to ensure quality standards are met throughout production.
  • Accurately record all relevant shop floor data using Data Collection Software where required.
  • Deliver effective shift handovers using verbal and written communication (handover notebooks).
  • Suggest and communicate improvements to processes, efficiency, and quality to the Supervisor/Team Leader.

Key Requirements
  • Time-served apprenticeship or equivalent experience in a precision engineering environment.
  • Strong experience with CNC machining (Fanuc and/or Siemens controls preferred).
  • Experience with Hurco machines is advantageous.
  • Proven ability to machine both metallic (including aircraft-grade materials) and high-quality engineering plastics.
  • Capable of operating multiple machines, managing workloads, and planning ahead effectively.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, low-volume, high-accuracy manufacturing environment is essential.
