Job summary

Progress Rail Services UK, Sheffield, is seeking three CNC Machinists to operate milling machines and produce machined components to the production plan safely and efficiently within schedule and to the required quality.

Role involves setting up, reading drawings, using DTI for setup, loading NC programs, crane operations, and in-process inspection. Competitive salary and extensive benefits on offer.

Qualifications

  • Experience in manufacturing, preferably in a medium to heavy environment.
  • CNC milling experience is essential.
  • Knowledge of Fanuc, Heidenhain and Siemens is advantageous.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings.
  • Awareness of safety legislation and ISO 9001 quality procedures.
  • Attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC milling machines.
  • Follow route cards instructions and read engineering drawings accurately.
  • Set up jobs using DTI/probing and load correct NC programs and tooling.
  • Use overhead cranes; crane training provided.
  • Inspect machined parts and perform in-process checks.
  • Make required machine parameter changes and run tests/dry runs.
  • Record works in SFDC and report errors to supervisor.
  • Undertake other tasks in the machine shop as required.
  • Self-inspect parts and resolve non-conformances.

CNC MACHINIST x3 - MILLING

Progress Rail Services UK, Sheffield is looking to recruit 3 CNC Machinists to operate CNC Milling Machines and produce machined components to the production plan, in a safe and efficient manner, within the planned production time and to the required quality.

  • £36,870 - £38,313 DOE (INCLUDING SHIFT ALLOWANCE) and great benefits

VARIOUS SHIFT PATTERNS AVAILABLE INCLUDING:
  • 3 Shifts:
  • Days: Monday to Thursday, 06:00 – 13:40 & Friday 06:00 – 13:00
  • Afters: Monday to Thursday, 13:35 – 21:15 & Friday 12:55 – 19:55
  • Nights: Monday to Thursday, 21:10 – 06:05
  • or
  • 2 Shifts:
  • Days: Monday to Thursday, 06:00 – 15:15
  • Afters: Monday to Thursday, 15:0 – 00:30
THE ROLE:

As a CNC Machinist you will be required to:

  • Operate CNC milling machines.
  • Accurately follow route card instructions SOP and reading of engineering drawings.
  • Use of Dial test indicator (DTI) clock for probing and setting up the job.
  • Identify and load the correct NC program and tooling for the parts to be machined.
  • Use of overhead cranes will be required. Crane training would be an advantage, but training will be provided.
  • Inspect products either on completion of machining or as a pre-machining or in process check as specified in the manufacturing instruction. This may involve the use of conventional measurement techniques using gauges or instruments and templates.
  • Carry out required machine parameter changes associated with the set up.
  • Test/dry run new or modified programs using appropriate machine functions and making required adjustments to machine and tool offsets to achieve the required size.
  • Use the SFDC system to record both direct and indirect works in line with the Company’s procedures.
  • Report possible or known errors in manufacturing instruction or other associated documentation to the Supervisor or Team leader
  • Undertake any other task within the machine shop workflow when management requires.
  • Self-inspection of parts produced, resolving non - conformance issues.
Qualifications
THE CANDIDATE:

The ideal CNC Machinist:

  • Previous experience should include manufacturing industry, preferably in a medium to heavy environment.
  • CNC milling experience.
  • Knowledge of Fanuc, Heidenheim, and Siemens would be an advantage.
  • Ability to reading engineering drawings
  • Awareness of safety legislation and quality procedures (ISO 9001)
  • Attention to detail
