Company Overview

We are a leading engineering and manufacturing business based in Darlington, specialising in precision machining and fabrication for a range of industries. Due to continued investment and a growing order book, we are looking to recruit an experienced CNC Miller to join our skilled production team.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will be responsible for the setting, operating, and programming of CNC milling machines, working across 3-axis and 4-axis machines with a variety of materials. Experience with offline programming and 5-axis machining is desirable, but not essential, as training may be provided for the right individual.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set, operate, and program CNC milling machines (primarily 3-axis and 4-axis)
  • Interpret technical engineering drawings and specifications
  • Produce high-quality components to tight tolerances
  • Carry out first-off and in-process inspections using standard measuring equipment
  • Conduct basic machine maintenance and ensure work area is kept clean and safe
  • Support continuous improvement and machining optimisation efforts
  • (Desirable) Offline programming experience using CAM software (e.g. Fusion 360, EdgeCAM, etc.)
  • (Desirable) Setup and operation of 5-axis CNC milling machines
Requirements
  • Proven experience in CNC milling - setting and operating
  • Strong knowledge of 3-axis and/or 4-axis machining
  • Ability to read and work from engineering drawings
  • Familiarity with controls such as Heidenhain, Fanuc, or Siemens
  • Understanding of tolerances, speeds, feeds, and tooling
  • Offline programming experience (3D CAM packages)
  • 5-axis CNC milling experience (setup and/or programming)
  • Apprenticeship or qualification in mechanical/manufacturing engineering
  • Strong attention to detail and quality-focused mindset
