Qualifications

Job Profile

A new and exciting role has just become available for a keen, motivated, confident, and technically experienced individual to join the team and become part of the Machining (CNC Milling) department. With yearly investment from the company owners and a continuous drive for automation/lights-out machining we are looking for someone who can go in and support the Aerospace Lead on taking the department to the next level.

If you are looking to take on new challenges and strive to be the best in complex multi-axis machining and are always looking to break the norm of conventional cutting methods and implement new high-speed machining techniques, then we want to hear from you!

You will be reporting directly to the Aerospace Lead / Head of Operations.

Responsibilities
  • Program, set and operate 3 axis CNC Machining Centres.
  • Programming and Operating Hurco CNC Mills with Conversational controls, creating programs from engineering drawings.
  • Produce precision machined Aerospace components in batches ranging from 1 off up to 100s off, with component sizes circa 3" to 4" and tight tolerances.
  • Work on a single job for up to two weeks, with changes possible to accommodate shorter jobs.
  • Machining to tight tolerances from general engineering materials to hardened metals.
  • Optimize historical jobs to improve cycle times, reduce hand deburring by increasing accuracy on the CNC machines, and improve component quality.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and ensure the work area is kept clean.
  • Ensure machine maintenance is conducted in accordance with relevant checklists.
  • Maintain electronic setup sheets and storage of CNC programs.
  • Keep an organized storage system for used cutters and drive a culture of reusing tools before ordering new ones.
  • Adhere to company policies, including health & safety, and quality control.
  • Play an active role in Continuous Improvement, suggesting improvements that could be implemented.
Skills & Attributes
  • Time-served, and ideally apprentice trained in precision engineering.
  • Ability to create programs on the machine, reading and interpreting technical drawings.
  • A methodical and systematic approach to tasks.
  • Good communicator, verbally and in writing.
  • Keen attention to detail and a focus on driving results.
  • CNC Milling (3-axis)
  • High-speed machining experience.
  • Machining to tight tolerances with experience of various materials.
  • Hurco experience would be an advantage but not essential.
  • Previous experience in a subcontract manufacturing environment (Aerospace background would be ideal).
Hours of Work

39 hours per week

Monday to Thursday 7.30am – 4.30pm and Friday 7.30am – 3pm

Lots of overtime available, paid at x1.25 hours weekdays and x1.5 hours Saturdays
