Job summary

Apex Resource Management near Woking is seeking an experienced CNC / Manual Machinist to join a busy engineering environment on a contract basis. You will produce high-quality one-off and small-batch components using CNC and manual milling and turning equipment, working from engineering drawings.

The role requires strong interpretation of 2D drawings, ability to manage multiple requests, self-check finished parts and meet tight deadlines, with occasional extra hours to support project timelines.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience producing one-off and small-batch machined components.
• Proficient with CNC and manual mills and lathes.
• Able to read 2D drawings and specifications.
• Experience inspecting machined components.
• CATIA CAD experience preferred.

CNC / Manual Machinist

Location: Near Woking

Contract: Until the end of 2026

Hours: Days

Contract: Inside IR35

The Role

We are looking for an experienced CNC / Manual Machinist to join a busy engineering and development environment on a contract basis. The role will involve producing high-quality one-off and small-batch components using a mixture of CNC and manual machining equipment. You will work closely with engineering and workshop teams to manufacture components for a range of development, testing and engineering projects.

This would suit a highly skilled CNC / Manual Machinist who is comfortable working from engineering drawings, managing multiple work requests and producing components accurately to tight deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

• Manufacture high-quality one-off and small-batch components.
• Operate CNC and manual milling and turning equipment.
• Work from 2D engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Work closely with engineering and workshop teams to support build and development activities.
• Self-check and inspect completed components to ensure they meet the required standards.
• Manage multiple work requests and changing priorities effectively.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
• Work additional hours, including occasional weekends, when necessary to support project deadlines.

Skills & Experience

• Extensive experience producing one-off and small-batch machined components.
• Strong experience with both CNC and manual mills and lathes.
• The ability to confidently interpret 2D engineering drawings and specifications.
• Experience inspecting and checking completed machined components.
• Experience working with a range of engineering materials.
• Experience viewing engineering drawings using CAD software. CATIA experience would be beneficial.
• A recognised engineering apprenticeship or equivalent practical engineering training.

You will be a practical, quality-focused CNC / Manual Machinist with a strong engineering background and a flexible approach to your work. You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change and deadlines are important.

Attention to detail, good communication skills and pride in producing high-quality work will be essential.

Contract

This CNC / Manual Machinist position is based near Woking and is offered on a contract basis until the end of 2026.
