Moog Aircraft Group seeks an apprentice-trained, experienced Manual/CNC Grinder to Wolverhampton. You will grind to close tolerances for aerospace components and operate S20/RM250 and Studer systems on shift after training. The role requires BPSS clearance and a proactive, quality-focused mindset.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate Manual Cylindrical and CNC grinding machines.
• Carry out first off inspection and document quality checks.
• Maintain close tolerance on complex aerospace components.
• Work with multiple machines and processes across shifts.
• Adhere to BPSS clearance requirements.

Job Summary

Moog Aircraft Group is looking for an apprentice trained, experienced Manual / CNC Grinder to join the team at our facility based in Wolverhampton on Shifts once training is completed. At Moog we’re focused on the customer and for us this means designing complex mechanical products that are often bespoke and high profile. Our Machinists work to exceptionally close tolerance, an essential requirement of the aerospace industry.

Responsibilities Include

• Experience in Setting, Operating Manual Cylindrical machines S20/RM250 and Setting CNC (Preferably Studer S33/S31)
• Capability of machining exotic and hardened materials
• Carry out own 1st off inspection and check/complete the necessary quality documentation
• Precision manual cylindrical grinding, working to achieve limits to 0.00005”
• Able to set and run multiple machine / processes.

Key Skills and experience

• A recognised engineering apprenticeship
• Cylindrical grinding experience essential
• Previous experience within an engineering/manufacturing role within the aerospace industry.
• Good knowledge of machining techniques and appropriate tooling
• Attention to detail and accuracy and process improvement
• Using the relevant inspection techniques/equipment to achieve drawing tolerance

This role will require the individual to work a shift pattern, including nights and overtime when requested.
The role requires the candidate to be self-certified and a quality stamp holder after qualifying period.

Security Clearance

Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance is required and must be maintained for this role.
