Job summary

Morson Edge on behalf of a world-leading maritime client is seeking several experienced CNC Machinists for the new Weekend Shift. You will set and operate 5-axis machining centres, ideally using Mazatrol Smooth operating software, to produce high-precision, low-volume components.

The role requires reading engineering drawings, performing program edits, tooling setup, and contributing to process improvements.

Qualifications

• High level of competency in setting and operating 5 axis machining centres.
• Experience of ISO programmes.
• Understand Health & Safety environment/procedures.
• Working from engineering drawings.
• Use of measuring equipment including verniers, stick mic's & probes.
• Setup and machining of castings using dial indicators and probes.

Responsibilities

• Machining of parts on 5 axis CNC machining centres.
• Stropping, lifting and loading materials with slings and overhead cranes.
• Working to engineering drawings and making CNC programming edits.
• Tooling setup and support with program and process improvements.
• Undertaking program prove-out activities, parts measurement and inspection.
• Ensuring product quality and conformance to specification.
• Perform machine TPM activities and maintain good area housekeeping.
• Work safely in line with Health and Safety policy.

Our World leading client has an immediate requirement for several CNC Machinists for their new Weekend Shift. Successful candidates will be highly experienced with running complex 5 axis machining centres, ideally using Mazatrol Smooth operating software.

Position Description

Setting and operating of 5 axis CNC machining centres for the manufacture of high precision, high quality, and low volume machined parts used in the assembly of critical system supplied to the maritime industry.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for machining of parts on 5 axis CNC machining centres
• Stropping, lifting and loading materials (use of slings and overhead cranes)
• Working to engineering drawings and making CNC programming edits
• Tooling set up, support with program and process improvement activities
• Undertaking program prove out activities, parts measurement and inspection
• Ensuring product quality and conformance to specification
• Perform machine TPM activities and ensure good area housekeeping
• Work safely in line with the companies Health and Safety policy

Essential Experience

• High level of competency in setting and operating 5 axis machining centres.
• Experience of I.S.O programmes
• Understand Health & Safety environment/procedures
• Working from Engineering drawings
• Use of measuring equipment including verniers, stick mic's & probes
• Setup and machining of castings using dial indicators and probes

Education

Indentured apprenticeship or HNC / HND in a highly relevant engineering discipline

Desired Experience

• CNC Programming of parts including program generation or editing an offline programme
• Mazatrol program edit and creation
• 5 years (min) Engineering experience within the manufacturing industry
• 5 years (min) CNC Programming knowledge
• Modern Tool Cutting knowledge
• CAM experience (Mastercam & Edgecam)
• CI experience (Lean 7 wastes)
• Safety / 5S work ethic
• Computer Literate (Microsoft)
• Manual Handling, slinging and lifting, and use of cranes up to 3T

Skills

• Good communicator with all levels of business (written & verbal)
• Ability to drive improvements
• Quality first mindset and ability to follow process and company standards

Shift Details

The weekend shift will be on 12hr Days & Nights across Friday, Saturday and Sunday (so paying a minimum of 36hrs).

We are looking for exceptional machinists, so the rate is highly competitive and includes subsidised accommodation and meals.
