A well-established precision engineering company in Portsmouth is seeking a CNC Machinist to operate CNC milling machines and perform programming tasks. The ideal candidate will have experience with Fanuc controls and must hold the right to work in the UK. CNC Machinist

Location: Portsmouth

Salary: 27,000 - 32,000 + Overtime

CNC Machinist Overview

An opportunity has opened up in the Portsmouth area to join a well-established precision engineering company who have been operating for over 40 years and manufactures a world leading product synonymous with precision.

Operating

  • To operate and run CNC milling machines (Fanuc/control)
  • Be able to read geometric drawings
  • Have good communication skills.
  • Be able to read and use measuring instruments.
  • Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations
  • Documents actions by completing production and quality logs
  • Control tolerances given on drawings
  • Be able to operate other machine shop equipment performing simple tasks i.e Pillar drills, manual lathes
Setting

  • Be able to set CNC lathes to perform various tasks and operations (Fanuc/control)
  • Setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math
  • Produce first off components at the beginning of production runs
Programming

  • Be able to program CNC lathe machines (Fanuc/control) at the machine
  • Be able to read and adjust existing programs
  • Once instructed in the procedure, upload or download programs from a central computer.


CNC Machinist Responsibilities and Essentials

  • Must have right to live and work in the UK
  • Must have a clean criminal record (Essential due to nature of product)
  • Must be able to set and operate CNC Mills on exp with Fanuc/Bridgeport/Heidenhain ideally
  • Must understand how to offset and tool change efficiently
  • Solid understanding of GD&T

Additional information for CNC Machinist


  • Monday to Thursday (Days) 7am - 4.30pm
  • Overtime available at x 1.5
  • Due to the nature of the work a full police check will be conducted if successful and can take up to 6 weeks
