CNC Machinist

Location: Portsmouth

Salary: £27,000 - 32,000 + Overtime

Benefits: 4-day working week, overtime (1.5x), working with a world-leading product



CNC Machinist Overview

An opportunity has opened up in the Portsmouth area to join a well-established precision engineering company who have been operating for over 40 years and manufactures a world leading product synonymous with precision.

Operating

- To operate and run CNC milling machines (Fanuc/control)
- Be able to read geometric drawings
- Have good communication skills.
- Be able to read and use measuring instruments.
- Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations
- Documents actions by completing production and quality logs
- Control tolerances given on drawings
- Be able to operate other machine shop equipment performing simple tasks i.e.. Pillar drills, manual lathes

Setting

- Be able to set CNC lathes to perform various tasks and operations (Fanuc/control)
- Setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math
- Produce first off components at the beginning of production runs

Programming

- Be able to program CNC lathe machines (Fanuc/control) at the machine
- Be able to read and adjust existing programs
- Once instructed in the procedure, upload or download programs from a central computer.



CNC Machinist Responsibilities and Essentials

- Must have right to live and work in the UK
- Must have a clean criminal record (Essential due to nature of product)
- Must be able to set and operate CNC Mills on exp with Fanuc/Bridgeport/Heidenhain ideally
- Must understand how to offset and tool change efficiently
- Solid understanding of GD&T

Additional information for CNC Machinist

- Monday to Thursday (Days) 7am - 4.30pm
- Overtime available at x 1.5
- Due to the nature of the work a full police check will be conducted if successful and can take up to 6 weeks*
