Job description

We are looking for a CNC Machinist/Toolmaker to work on a permanent basis in St Helens.

The role will be working days, 40 hours per week, across 5 days.

Salary is c£36-42,000 per annum plus holidays, pension, overtime etc.

Key Responsibilities for the CNC Machinist / Tool Maker role:

  • Design and develop tools and moulds from product specifications and engineering drawings.

  • Operate and maintain CNC machines, lathes, milling machines and other toolmaking equipment.

  • Carry out regular maintenance and repairs on existing tools to ensure optimal performance and longevity.

  • Work closely with engineering and production teams to troubleshoot and resolve tooling issues.

  • Conduct quality inspections of tools and moulds to ensure they meet design specifications and tolerances.

  • Keep accurate records of tool designs, modifications and maintenance activities.

Toolmaker requirements

  • Technical qualification or apprenticeship in toolmaking, machining or a related field (preferred).

  • Ideally 5+ years’ experience in toolmaking

  • Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Fusion 360) for designing tools and moulds.

  • Strong knowledge of CNC machining, milling and lathe operations.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

  • Able to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
