Job description

Job Title: CNC Machinist

Our client in Gourock is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join their team. The successful candidate will set and operate CNC Lathes, program when necessary, and ensure all components meet customer specifications while maintaining safety and efficiency.

Working Hours:

39 hours per week: Monday - Thursday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; Friday, 8:00 am - 1:00 pm. Overtime opportunities are available.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Accurately create programs using Fanuc or Haas controls as required.
  2. Make off-set or program adjustments to ensure component compliance.
  3. Optimize machine routings and processes for efficiency.
  4. Maintain up-to-date documentation for all components in production.
  5. Coordinate with the Team Leader and MSS to ensure timely completion of work, highlighting issues early.
  6. Keep the work area tidy and adhere to health and safety policies.
  7. Record labour hours accurately using the Internal Operating Bookings System and other documentation.
  8. Support and train colleagues to ensure operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  9. Perform any other duties as required by the company.
Experience and Qualifications:
  • Excellent communication skills, both spoken and written.
  • Ability to understand machinery instructions.
  • Efficient work ethic with minimal supervision.
  • Problem-solving skills to address minor issues promptly.
  • Accurate record-keeping abilities.
  • Team player with self-motivation.
  • Time-served Turner or similar experience.
  • Good understanding of engineering drawings and tight tolerances.
  • Experience setting and operating CNC Vertical Borer (preferred but not essential).
