Job description

Job Purpose Summary

To accurately set and run 3.4 and 5 axis CNC milling machines in order to manufacture complex high variety, low volume components.

Key Responsibilities And Accountabilities

  1. Read, understand and examine engineering drawings and specifications to determine appropriate method, sequence of operations and machine setting.
  2. Select and fix work-holding devices and appropriate cutting, shaping and/or forming tools.
  3. Produce robust set ups which are poka-yoke and work with operators to ensure they understand loading instruction.
  4. Operate manual controls to clock vices/fixture and set datums.
  5. Reposition workpiece, set tools and reset machine as necessary during production run.
  6. Instruct operator on the safe and correct method of operation of the machine.
  7. Self-inspect to customer required tolerances.
  8. Accurately select tooling, use measuring equipment.
  9. Set and safely operate machinery; 3,4 and 5 axis machines.
  10. Work in accordance with the standards required by the company and our customers.
  11. Problem solve and work often on own initiative.
  12. Continue to help/improve work environment and carry out housekeeping duties in line with 5S.

Personal Specification

Education/Qualification

  1. Engineering apprentice trained.
  2. Good level of English: Level B1 CEFR minimum.

Experience

  1. Robust engineering background.
  2. At least two years’ experience working in an engineering manufacturing environment; CNC experience preferred: Fanuc/Hideinhain/Siemens.
  3. Working autonomously.
  4. Setting up best practice.
  5. Desirable – Aerospace industry.

Skills
