CNC Lathe Setter/Programmer – Day Shift

Location: Crewkerne
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Hours: 39 hours/week (Monday to Friday, early finish on Fridays)
Pay: £12.38–£16.00 per hour (DOE)
Bonus: Quarterly bonus + performance scheme

The Opportunity

An established engineering business in Crewkerne is seeking a skilled CNC Lathe Setter/Programmer to join their growing Machine Shop. This is a great opportunity for a CNC Machinist with experience across 2, 3, or 4-axis machines who thrives in a precision-driven, safety-conscious environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC lathes and milling machines (2, 3, 4-axis)
  • Interpret technical drawings and blueprints to program and set up machines
  • Use CAM software to model cutting paths and optimise production
  • Perform in-process inspections to ensure component accuracy and quality
  • Adjust settings and tooling to maintain performance and part tolerances
  • Conduct basic machine maintenance and troubleshoot issues as they arise
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient working environment

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience setting and/or programming CNC lathes (essential)
  • Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Familiarity with tooling selection and machine setup
  • Solid understanding of CNC programming (CAM experience beneficial)
  • High attention to detail and precision
  • Good problem-solving skills
