Job description

Are you an experienced CNC Lathe Operator ready to take on challenging, high-precision work in a modern engineering environment? We're looking for a highly capable machinist to join a respected team in Sheffield, working on large-scale, complex components across a range of demanding materials.

This role is ideal for a detail-oriented individual who thrives in precision machining and takes pride in producing quality work to the highest standards.

To be considered for the role, you ll require the following essentials:

  • Proven experience in Fanuc-controlled CNC lathe operation
  • Background in machining both small and large complex parts
  • Ability to work to extremely tight tolerances and finish quality
  • Programming experience on Fanuc (desirable but not essential)
  • Confidence working from technical drawings with minimal supervision
  • Strong understanding of safety, accuracy, and efficiency in a fast-paced machining environment
  • A proactive, solution-focused mindset with a passion for engineering excellence

Within this position, you ll also be:

  • Set and operate CNC lathes using Fanuc controls to produce high-spec components
  • Work to tight tolerances of 0.5mm on parts ranging from short production runs to longer, complex projects
  • Machine large components up to 1,200mm diameter and 6m in length
  • Read and interpret complex technical and engineering drawings
  • Use micrometres, verniers, and other precision measuring tools to inspect and verify work
  • Maintain workshop standards and ensure adherence to quality, safety, and engineering processes
  • Collaborate with engineering and inspection teams to troubleshoot and optimise machining processes
