Job description

Applications Engineer (CNC Programmer / Machine Tool Service Engineer)

We are searching for an experienced Fanuc CNC Programmer / CNC Machine Tool Service Engineer for the role of CNC Applications Engineer involving testing, installing & setting up new machine tools sold to customers.

The ideal candidate must have a strong background in CNC programming or a CNC machine tool service engineer and be available to stay away during the week as required.

My client is a well-established manufacturer of CNC machine tools and robot automation cells, selling to manufacturing businesses through the UK and Ireland.

Experience in robot programming is desirable but not essential – we are looking for someone eager to learn and develop automation skills on the job. This role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with industrial robots, allowing you to integrate CNC machines with robotic automation and progress into a more advanced role in manufacturing automation.

Responsibilities:

  1. The role involves working away during the week on customer sites in the UK and Ireland. Potentially 2-3 weeks in a row, home at weekends.
  2. To set and program CNC machines and industrial robots within the factory for factory acceptance testing.
  3. Disassemble and reassemble machines and manufacturing cells.
  4. Install and set up automation cells at customer sites and conduct on-site customer acceptance testing, customer witness testing, and training.
  5. Troubleshooting and optimizing performance.

Training will be provided as required on Robot programming, PLC programming, and automation software development.

38 hour week.

Requirements

  1. Available to stay away Monday to Friday as required.
  2. Fanuc programming experience is essential.
  3. Siemens or Heidenhain is beneficial.
  4. A time-served engineer with at least 5 years’ experience of CNC programming, turning, and milling machine tools applications.
  5. A qualified engineer with a recognised apprenticeship.
  6. Driving license with no more than 3 points.
