Job summary

First Base in Stroud is seeking a skilled CMM Quality Inspector for a permanent, on-site role with a double days shift rotation. The position involves operating and programming CMM equipment to inspect precision components, interpreting GD&T requirements and maintaining measurement routines.

Qualifications

• Experience operating and programming CMM equipment.
• Strong understanding of GD&T principles and measurement techniques.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings with accuracy.
• High attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.
• Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems is advantageous.

Responsibilities

CMM Quality Inspector

Key Responsibilities of a CMM Inspector

• Operate and programme CMM equipment to inspect precision-engineered components
• Create and maintain measurement routines for in-process and final inspection
• Interpret engineering drawings, specifications and GD&T requirements
• Produce dimensional inspection reports and measurement records
• Carry out calibration and routine maintenance of inspection equipment
• Investigate and report non-conformances through NCR processes
• Support NPI projects and the introduction of new products
• Work closely with Engineering and Production teams to resolve quality issues
• Ensure measurement systems remain compliant and repeatable
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping within inspection areas

Key Skills of a CMM Inspector

• Previous experience operating and programming CMM equipment
• Experience with Mitutoyo and/or Aberlink systems desirable
• Strong understanding of GD&T
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Experience using micrometers, verniers, thread gauges and other inspection equipment
• Knowledge of MSA and Gauge R&R principles desirable
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Good IT skills and familiarity with ERP/MRP systems
