Job summary

CNC Recruitment South West Ltd is seeking an experienced Quality Inspector for a permanent, full-time role in our Chard manufacturing facility. You will join a dedicated team ensuring the highest standards of accuracy on precision components.

Responsibility includes programming and operating CMMs, inspecting to GD&T, producing FAIRs, and driving continuous improvement while maintaining compliance with AS9100/ISO 9001 quality systems.

Qualifications

• Previous experience within a CNC machining or precision engineering environment.
• Proven CMM programming and operating experience (essential).
• Strong understanding of precision machining processes and manufactured components.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
• Experience using manual inspection equipment including micrometers, verniers, height gauges and bore gauges.
• Good IT skills and experience producing quality documentation.
• Excellent attention to detail with a methodical approach.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team.

• Carry out first‑off, in‑process, final and audit inspections on precision‑machined components.
• Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T and customer specifications.
• Produce inspection reports and First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR/AS9102).
• Identify non‑conformances and support root cause investigations and corrective actions.
• Work closely with CNC machining, production and engineering teams to maintain quality standards.
• Ensure compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001 and customer quality requirements.
• Maintain calibration records and ensure inspection equipment remains fully compliant.
• Support internal and external quality audits.
• Contribute to continuous improvement activities across the manufacturing process.

Salary: £36,000 – £42,000 DOE

Job Type: Permanent | Full-Time

Hours: Monday – Thursday 8:00am – 5:00pm, Friday 8:00am – 1:00pm

Key Responsibilities

• Programme and operate CMM equipment, including Axiom, Azimuth, Extol and Baty systems.
