Job summary

Select Engineering Limited in Birmingham is seeking an inspector who can operate and program GOM Scanbox and CMMs to perform dimensional inspections of components and assemblies. You will interpret drawings and GD&T, verify calibration, and maintain records while supporting production and engineering teams.

The role requires an NVQ Level 3 and time-served apprenticeship, with a focus on quality and continuous improvement, in a manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities

Operate and program GOM Scanbox equipment for dimensional inspection.
Operate and program CMMs for dimensional inspection of components and assemblies.
Conduct first article, in-process, and final inspections per quality requirements.
Produce, analyse and communicate inspection reports using metrology software (Zeiss Calypso, Zeiss Inspect).
Interpret drawings and GD&T per specifications and customer requirements.
Verify and maintain inspection equipment in line with calibration and quality system requirements.
Develop and improve inspection programs, fixtures, and measurement processes.
Ensure inspection records and documentation are completed and maintained.
Assist with process improvement within quality and manufacturing functions.
Support knowledge sharing within the team.
Work with limited supervision and prioritise workload.
