CMF Designer (Designer & Senior Designer)

You will be responsible for creatively generating and developing CMF concepts and delivering final designs of colours, materials, and finishes for Dyson products in line with the overall design and company strategy.

You will be involved in every aspect of the CMF design journey and support the development of CMF concepts to enable the delivery of final designs for Dyson products, aligned with the overall design and company strategy.

About The Role

You will work closely within an established CMF Design team, focused on enhancing the owner experience and maintaining Dyson’s reputation.

Present CMF Design at the executive level.

Actively contribute to growing the CMF function at Dyson and play a vital role within the newly established team.

Generate CMF Design Specifications, develop project and material timing plans, and master material samples. Communicate CMF designs using visuals and models.

Own the CMF Design of products from concept through development stages into production.

Collaborate with the wider Design and Product Experience Team to promote world-class design.

Manage internal communications with global R&D, Commercial, Quality, Engineering, and Programme teams for project success.

Support discovery of new resources for materials to foster innovation.

Possess broad experience with both soft and hard material developments, with extensive knowledge of material technology and manufacturing processes. Develop CMF narratives, strategies, and comprehensive design guidelines.

About You

Degree in Textile Design, Colour and Material Design, Product or Industrial Design, or equivalent.

Highly motivated and collaborative, with ownership of projects, receptive to feedback.

Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and take initiative.

Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and visual.

Ability to assess project risks impacting CMF Design and recommend mitigations.

Good understanding of production and engineering processes and their influence on design and fabrication.

Superior colour vision and attention to detail. Ability to travel if required.

Software skills: Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Rhino, KeyShot, Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel).
